Vinings Nursing Home Suffers a Fire Damaging Event
A smoldering refuse container in a resident's bedroom activated the emergency fire suppressant system. In this case, the damage was not from flames nor smoke, but from the powder of the extinguishing system. We had no need to vacuum up water post-fire extinguishing, but we were challenged in vacuuming up the powder without contaminating the bedrooms off the corridor. We sealed off the registers of the HVAC system and worked carefully using HEPA filtered devices to prevent secondary circulation of the unwanted particles. Management was impressed with our courteous efforts to alleviate any fears of the clients during the entire service. We left some hours later, leaving behind happy senior citizens "Like it never even happened."
